This estimate is not applicable to informal or unlicensed operations. A production-ready estimate requires centralized incident reporting that does not currently exist globally.

No centralized global fatality registry exists for commercial bungee jumping. Bentley TA and Page SJ (J Travel Med 2001, PMID 11703925) studied adventure tourism injuries and fatalities in New Zealand over a 4-year period; the study found bungee jumping to be among the lowest-fatality adventure activities, with 0–1 deaths documented relative to an estimated millions of commercial jumps, consistent with a rate of approximately 1–2 micromorts per jump in well-regulated markets. Spiegelhalter D (The Norm Chronicles, 2014) similarly cites bungee jumping risk at approximately 1–2 micromorts per jump. Country-level regulation varies widely; fatality rates in unregulated markets may be substantially higher. No peer-reviewed per-jump fatality rate from a large multi-operator dataset has been published.
