Estimated acute risk associated with off-road mountain biking.

Base risk estimate

0.02 micromorts per hours

Source notes

Placeholder value for development only. A population-based study of recreational mountain biking in Norway recorded 97 fatalities over 16 years (Heir T et al., Injury Epidemiology, ScienceDirect 2024), but national per-hour fatality rates are not published. Sports medicine literature (British Journal of Sports Medicine, American Journal of Sports Medicine) covers injury rates but not per-hour fatality rates specifically.
